Ripped after 3 months

My son, age 11, uses the pull tabs on the tongue and back of heel to get the shoes on. The heel pull tab ripped after 3 months of use. It's raining a lot here so don't have time for returns/warranties. My wife ended up cutting the rest of the pull tab off...
