- Warnings:
- Change tampon regularly, preferably every 4 to 8 hours. Do not wear for longer than 8 hours. A tampon can be worn overnight, but should be inserted right before bed and changed the next morning. Leaving a tampon in the vagina for a long time can lead to a condition called toxic shock syndrome (TSS). TSS is really rare but dangerous. If you experience vomiting, high fever, diarrhea, muscle pain, sore throat, dizziness, fainting or weakness, or a sunburn,like rash while using a tampon, remove the tampon and call a doctor immediately. To prevent TSS, use a tampon with the lowest absorbency and change it every 4 to 8 hours or as often as necessary.
