Cultural curator Hiking Patrol takes Mammut’s Sapuen Low GTX trail sneakers into the wild.
Mammut is one of the OGs of technical outwear in every sense of the term. Since 1862, the Swiss brand has delivered products that redefine functionality and performance through meticulous detailing and premium specifications. And this season is no different.
For FW23, the brand has collaborated with the outdoor lifestyle curation platform Hiking Patrol to deliver two revised archival footwear silhouettes — the Sapuen Low GTX in nude and in black — exclusive to Zalando. To celebrate their arrival, Mammut linked up with Wai Tsui, the mind behind Hiking Patrol, and tasked him with putting the shoes to the test in the wild territories they were built for.
For the adventure, Tsui headed to Gran Paradiso, a huge, hulking mountain in Italy’s Graian Alps, to tackle its famously tricky terrain. The conclusion?
“The shoes offer remarkable versatility,” he says, talking of the experience, “making them ideal for a wide range of activities. Thanks to their waterproof GTX technology and Vibram sole, they provide reliable traction and stability on various surfaces.”
He adds: “What I appreciate about this style in terms of design, feel and wearability is its seamless integration of urban and outdoor aesthetics. This results in a shoe that not only possesses an attractive appearance but also delivers exceptional performance and comfort to the wearer.”
