Over the last two years, many of us have yearned to escape our city lives in search of greener spaces. Some departed the city for good, while others have traded late weekend nights out for early mornings and fresh air. Collectively, we have re-discovered the outdoors, but individually, we’ve done it in our own unique ways. Fitness pursuits like running, hiking, and cycling have helped us re-assess our relationships with nature, for the good.
Like running and hiking, cycling does indeed come with its own dress code – from tinted sunglasses and courier caps to spandex shorts. Style is a huge part of cycling culture as well, just check out vintage photos from the Giro d‘Italia or take a look at ‘70s and ‘80s bicycle racing posters. Bike couriers in major cities around the world like New York, London, and Berlin have also carved out their own unique subcultures, defined by their style, bravado, and the daring lines they carve through traffic on fixed-gear bicycles. But off the saddle, a fair number of modern cycling-style references are starting to touch the world of streetwear and fashion as well.
